Hey! My name is Lauryn and I believe there is nothing more powerful than human touch.
I am a healer with 7 years of massage therapy experience. I graduated from the Aveda Institute Minneapolis in 2013. I have dedicated myself to expanding my knowledge of the healing arts from both eastern and western origins.
My style is a mix of Swedish and deep tissue bodywork, catering to each body. With my gift, I hope to help others learn to take care of their physical self and leave feeling a little more confident in their skin.
This year, many have had their eyes opened to the plague of Racism in this country. The massage industry is no exception.
I have personally massaged four different white men with confederate flag tattoos. To be providing a service to someone who would rather see you enslaved is an insulting experience to say the least.
I have had people ask if there are other therapists available after introducing myself. I have had people squirm at my touch. Leave without paying. And leave me nasty website reviews.
I have received terrible massages from people who had no intention of healing my body. People who have commented on the varying color of my skin. My hair. Not to mention those who were disgusted with having to touch a fat body.
I have rarely felt comfortable receiving a massage and because of this, I rarely receive bodywork for myself. I do not feel safe. I do not feel comfortable.
I am one of very few Black massage therapists here in the Twin Cities. My priority is to the health and well-being of Black people. If this is an issue for you, there are hundreds of massage therapists you can go see and I am willing to give you recommendations.
